13 Creative Assignment - Basic Circuits
I got too ambitious with not enough copper tape. I plan on going in before class to debug/ bringing more tape home. I was inspired by the below image.
My attempt/ this was after trying to take some tape off/ debug initially the circuit was not closed and the bottom strip was not taken off like the sketch
the idea was lights would shine through the paper to illuminate the back of the horse drawn on the previous pages
I will post final outcomes once it has been debugged/ simplified with more coper tape once I am back on campus
Reflection:
Even though my project did not work I am beginning to get excited regarding the process and potential of using circuits in the art classroom. The debugging aspect presents a different kind of creative problem solving for myself and future students. The use of circuits adds a different element to the overall work and an interactive feature as well which I quite enjoy. My circuit was attempting to express the electric feeling I get when I am around horses, one of joy and excitement. The switch was intended to support the idea through the fact that once the horse is touched this feeling/ light is illuminated. The hardest part of troubleshooting was that the circuit took much more copper tape than I anticipated particularly to be successful in debugging. To fix the circuit I see that I may need to simplify. To teach this to 4th graders I definitely believe simplification needs to occur. If I were to do so I see the circuit sketchbook to be a great resource.
